
Saroyan Days Art Competition

The “Saroyan Days” Art Competition, organized by the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF), invites students aged 11–15 from COAF partner schools in rural Armenia to explore the creative world of William Saroyan through art.
Participants are encouraged to read Saroyan’s works, draw inspiration from his stories, and express their impressions through original drawings. The competition celebrates creativity, imagination, and cultural appreciation while connecting students to one of Armenia’s most beloved literary voices. Outstanding individual entries and active schools will be recognized with awards. Submissions are accepted online until November 20, 2025.
Organizer: Children of Armenia Fund (COAF)
Participants: Students aged 11–15 from COAF partner community schools in the regions of Armavir, Lori, Shirak, Aragatsotn, and Syunik.
Submission Deadline: November 15, 2025
Theme: Artistic works (drawings) inspired by the literary works of William Saroyan.
Objectives
- Introduce students to William Saroyan’s literary legacy through reading.
- Explore and reinterpret Saroyan’s literary works and artistic contributions.
- Express and interpret literary texts in artistic form.
- Develop creative thinking, imagination, and artistic skills.
Submission Format
- Drawings may be created using any technique (watercolor, gouache, oil, pencil, mixed media, etc.).
- Size: not smaller than A4 and not larger than A2.
- Each participant may submit only one work.
- The work must be original and unpublished.
- Applications are submitted online. The applicant must:
- Fill in the required fields via this link
- Upload a photo of the artwork in .jpg format
- Provide a short description (up to 100 words), explaining their interpretation of the piece and specifying which Saroyan work served as inspiration.
