Project H.O.P.E.: Rebuilding Lives for Displaced Families in Armenia, One Step at a Time
How the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) brought hope, healing, and opportunity to displaced families from Artsakh
How the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) brought hope, healing, and opportunity to displaced families from Artsakh
Three-year-old Maria from Stepanakert has found herself a bit “lost” in time and space, but she remembers one address well: the village of Hatsik.
Follow the journey of Davit from Khnabad village in Artsakh — one of the thousands of children who have faced the blockade, wars, and forced displacement. Davit and his family have now settled in Lori, Armenia.
“Everything is fine; we’re not hungry, we’re just eating healthy.” This is how the people of Artsakh, who have been under blockade for almost 9 months, jokingly describe their situation.
When, in 2015, COAF completely renovated a school in Hatsik village (Armavir province), the dwellers called it “the beginning of a new life.”
However much you think you have prepared for your child’s first year of school, there is always something new to learn and adapt to.
Everything has its own time” is also true for the period children begin to improve their social or communication difficulties.
COAF’s Psychological Services Manager Tamara Harutyunyan has been working with families from rural Armenia and Artsakh affected by the crisis.
A neglected child whose parents took her back from the orphanage. A disabled kid who was finally able to attend his local school.
What do children need to live a happy childhood? Caring parents, a safe and convenient living environment, toys, games, what else?
Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that employs community-led approaches aimed at improving the quality of life in rural Armenia, with particular focus on children and youth.
