2024 was COAF’s twenty first year of transforming lives and expanding opportunities for children and families in rural Armenia. From day one, it has been our mission to empower youth through comprehensive and innovative programs. In doing so we have positively impacted over 100,000 lives across more than 80 rural communities. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our incredible community.
As we gear up for an exciting year ahead, we’re proud to share the highlights of what we accomplished together in 2024:
Armavir SMART Center Groundbreaking
In 2024, COAF broke ground on our newest SMART Center, which will serve as a learning hub of innovation and growth for youth in the Armavir region. The 90-hectare campus will also set the stage for our upcoming SMART Centers in Kapan and Goris as well.
Debed School Groundbreaking
The Debed Secondary School reached a major milestone in 2024 with a groundbreaking ceremony, paving the way for its grand opening in 2025. With an investment of over $1.7 million, COAF is creating a cutting-edge educational facility featuring vibrant classrooms, specialized laboratories, and interactive spaces designed to foster both learning and active student engagement.
Youredjian Child & Family Center Opening
This year, COAF inaugurated our 4th COAF Child and Family Center in the Myasnikyan village of Armavir. This newly-built facility will provide free early childhood education, speech therapy, social work, and psychological services to 5,000 beneficiaries annually.
COAF English Language Textbooks Launched Nationwide
COAF’s English Programs team created new English language textbooks for grades 3, 6, and 8 which won a national competition and are now used in public schools across Armenia. Since then, our expert team has been working diligently on submitting new English textbooks to be considered for grades 4, 9, and 12 grades.
Opening of the Dsegh Health Center
COAF opened the doors to the new Dsegh Health Center, a modern medical facility that provides primary health care services to 7 communities surrounding Dsegh village in Lori. Together with the Ministry of Health of Armenia, we’re implementing a pilot healthcare reform program on-site.
Scholarship Program Expansion
This year, thanks to the generous support of the Youredjian Family Foundation, COAF awarded scholarships to 110 students, empowering them to pursue higher education, attend career development events and workshops, and bring their dreams to life.
Science Week Expo
COAF’s booth at Yerevan’s first-ever science week was the star of the show, with thousands of guests stopping by to discover COAF’s career development and SMART education programs through our interactive outer-space-themed installation. Our founder Dr. Garo Armen also received the Eminent Person Award from the World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) at the 2024 Digitec/WCIT Summit.
COAF’s Social Enterprises On the Rise
COAF’s BEES Honey launches into online sales and supermarket chains in Armenia. This year BEES produced ~2,000kg of high-quality, raw honey. CheeseUp, our dairy production coop also shined, acquiring export to Georgia, entry into all major supermarkets in Yerevan, and a significant income increase for farmers.
These and the rest of our social enterprises, like Concept by COAF hotel and the Visitor Center by COAF—which have hosted thousands of tourists this year—have continued to evolve and put revenue back into local economies as well as into SMART education programs.
21st Annual COAF Holiday Gala Raises $7M
Another year, another exceptional gala uniting our global community to advance transformative change in rural Armenia. The evening featured a distinguished lineup of guests, including Karren Karagulian and Vache Tovmasyan, stars of the Palme d’Or-winning film Anora, Joe Manganiello, acclaimed actor and COAF Board Member, Andrea Martin, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor and comedian, and Eric Bogosian, celebrated actor and star of HBO’s Succession. We also honored the 2024 Save a Generation recipients, Shaké and Vahé Nahapetian, for their remarkable contributions.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are proud to have raised $7 million to drive meaningful progress in 2025.

COAF provides communities with access to hundreds of programs across four areas of focus: education, healthcare, child and family services, and economic development. These programs are not just critical to families; they offer life-changing opportunities for our young beneficiaries.
