A New Chapter in Rural Healthcare: Dsegh Health Center by COAF Is Officially Open

We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news from the beautiful village of Dsegh in the Lori region. On July 15, the doors to the brand-new Dsegh Health Center by COAF (Children of Armenia Fund) are officially opened, a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to enhance rural healthcare across Armenia.

The opening ceremony was a memorable event, graced by the presence of the RA Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, Lori’s Governor Aram Ghazaryan, various government representatives, and of course, the wonderful residents of Dsegh and neighboring communities. We were also honored to have COAF’s CEO, Liana Ghaltaghchyan, and our dedicated team who have worked tirelessly to bring this project to life.

In partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, we’ve launched a pilot program at the Dsegh Health Center aimed at reforming primary healthcare. This initiative is all about delivering high-quality, cost-effective primary care to rural populations, improving health outcomes, and creating a sustainable, replicable model for rural health services throughout Armenia.

Our founder, Garo Armen, shared an inspiring message to kick off the event, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an informative tour of the new health center. COAF’s CEO, Liana Ghaltaghchyan, highlighted the critical role this center will play in Armenia’s healthcare landscape. She reminded us of COAF’s 20-year journey in enhancing primary health care services, rebuilding infrastructure, and training specialists in Armenia’s rural communities. The Dsegh Health Center, the idea for which was born in 2021 in response to the pandemic, stands as a testament to our commitment to robust primary healthcare. Liana’s words resonated deeply: “We hope everyone who visits this center leaves healthier.”

The Dsegh Health Center is equipped with a modern laboratory, comfortable consultation and emergency care rooms, a welcoming waiting area, and even a dental wing. This facility is designed to serve around 4,000 residents from Dsegh and six neighboring communities, bringing top-notch healthcare services right to their doorstep.

Lori’s Governor, Aram Ghazaryan, congratulated the residents and expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Health and COAF for this significant project. He aptly called the opening a milestone for everyone involved.

Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the center as a product of effective collaboration. She highlighted the extensive training our medical staff has undergone and the new experiences and work culture they’ve adopted, all thanks to the dedication of many individuals working towards a shared vision.

We at COAF are incredibly proud of this achievement and look forward to the positive impact the Dsegh Health Center will have on the community. This is just the beginning, and we remain committed to improving the lives of people in rural Armenia through enhanced healthcare, education, and community development.

Stay tuned for more updates and stories from Dsegh and beyond and consider donating to COAF. Together, we are making a difference!
